A race win would be fantastic

Chatting to L.A.Wilshaw, Haas F1 Team driver, Ollie Bearman, shared some of his thoughts for the season ahead.
“I mean a race win would be fantastic but judging by the performances [of the Haas car] over the years, quite unrealistic I would say. I think that’s a pretty fair comment.”
So, how does a driver with no clear-cut opportunity to win a race prepare themselves for the long season ahead?
Working on performance, and maximising each sessions to gain as many points as possible is all drivers in Bearman’s position can do.
“My goal for this season is to get some good results. I’m more focusing on my personal performances.”
When asked by the media if the recent testing in Bahrain indicated how well the car will do this season, Bearman said:
“We don’t actually know where the car stands on performances yet, so that’s something we have to wait and see. But my goal is to improve as much as I can throughout the year. Take all of my experience and be very self-critical and find ways to improve.”
The Haas seat is a potential waiting ground for the 19 year old Briton, as he hopes the Ferrari seat will become available to him within a couple of years. Ferrari has been in Bearman’s DNA for a number of years, having joined the Ferrari Driver Programme in 2022.
However, Bearman will have to put his time in, and hope to end the season ahead of his team mate at the very least.
“Hopefully I’ll look back at the year and see a marked improvement throughout the year and that will be the sign of a successful season.”
